Andy Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 BEC'S MOVE OUT OF HOME WAS A SURPRISE Sunday Herald Sun 15 May 2005 BEC Cartwright's decision to depart from Home and Away next month for "personal reasons" took cast and crew by surprise. She was expected to continue filming for several more months before signing off. The announcement of her departure came after she and fiance Lleyton Hewitt (left) had infuriated network chiefs for refusing to appear on Today Tonight unless they received a hefty appearance fee, said to be $100,000. The couple were paid $200,000 by Seven Network- owned New Idea for the exclusive pregnancy announcement in the magazine. Cartwright has been employed on Home and Away for seven years and her increased popularity in the last eight months has been mostly driven by the network and its decision to use her in Dancing With The Stars. TV bosses refused to buckle under the cash demand, leaving Today Tonight with the embarassment of interviewing other cast members about the pregnancy, but not the girl herself.
msf Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 So is Hayley going to South America then ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> .. and she will return three stone lighter, six inches shorter and with a totally different accent. But don't worry, word has it Bec is set to return to play Hayley's twin sister when ratings start to plummet. Disclaimer: This is a in-joke for Sons and Daughters fans. Any similarity to actual fact is purely coincidental. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They missed an opportunity when she had that car accident and thought she'd been disfigured. I know what they could do, introduce the new Hayley progressively over a few weeks. Alternate scenes with the old Hayley and scenes with the new one.
