Cal Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 Cold Chisel - Khe Sahn I left my heart to the sappers 'round Khe Sahn And I sold my soul with my cigarettes, to a black market man I've had to Vietnam cold turkey, from the ocean to the silver city And it's only other vets could understand 'Bout the long forgotten dockside guarantees How there were no V-day heroes in nineteen seventy-three How we sailed into Sydney Harbour, I saw an old friend but I couldn't kiss her And she was lined, and I was home to the lucky land She was like so many more from that time on Their lives were all so empty, until they'd found there chosen one And their legs were often open but their minds were always closed And their hearts were held in fast suburban chains And the legal pads were yellow, hours long paypackets lean And the telex writers clattered where the gunships once had been The carparks made me jumpy and I never stopped the dreams Or the growing need for speed and novacaine So I worked across the country from end to end I tried to find a place to settle down, where my mixed up life could mend I held a job on an oil-rig, a-flyin' choppers when I could But the nightlife nearly drove me round the bend And I've travelled round the world from year to year-ear-ear And each one found me aimless, one more year the worse for wear And I've been back to South East Asia, you know the answer sure ain't there But I'm driftin' north to check things out agai-ai-ain Well the last plane out of Sydney's almost go-one And only seven flyin' hours, till I'll be landin' in Hong Kong And there ain't nothin' like the kisses from a jaded Chinese princess I'm gonna hit some Hong Kong mattress all night lo-ong Well the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone Hunters and Collectors - Holy Grail Woke up this morning from the strangest dream I was in the biggest army the world has ever seen We were marching as one On the road to the holy grail Started out seeking fortune and glory Its a short song but a hell of a story When you spend lifetime trying to get your hands On the holy grail Well have you heard about the great crusade We ran into millions, but nobody got paid Yeah we raised four corners of the globe For the holy grail All the locals scattered, they were hiding in the snow We were so far home, so how were we to know There be nothing left to pluder When we stumble on the holy grail We were full of beans But we were dying like flies And those big black birds, they were circling in the sky And you know what they say, yeah, nobody deserves to die You know I, i been searching for an easy way To escape the cold light of day I been high and I been low But I nowhere else to go Theres nowhere else to go And i followed orders God knows where i been But i woke up alone All my wounds were clean Im still here Im still a fool for the holy grail oh yeah im a fool for the holy grail I have never heard of that song. Looks good!! :-)
aejdude Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 Hoobastank - Unaffected "Unaffected" [1st verse:] There never seems to be Because what i believe A moment i'm not trying To show them who i am Why can't they understand The things that they're denying? They're denying..... [chorus:] So what should i do Just lay next to you As though i'm unaffected And who should i be When they're judging me As though i'm unaffected? [2nd verse:] A chance they'd never give To ever want to live The life that i am made of There's nothing left to prove My heart's forever true What is it they're afraid of? Afraid of..... [chorus:] So what should i do Just lay next to you As though i'm unaffected And who should i be When they're judging me As though i'm unaffected? Before they even saw my face The knew that i was not the same And decided i was not the one for you For you..... So what should i do? I'm not unaffected And who should i be? I'm not unaffected [chorus:] So what should i do Just lay next to you As though i'm unaffected And who should i be When they're judging me As though i'm unaffected? Unaffected...[repeat 4 times]
Cal Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 Bif Naked - Let Down Ain't had a job in about a year. Living down in my parents basement. I wish that I could get outta here! Sometimes I think I need a vacation! Can't get my mother off my back. She don't have far to go to drive me crazy. Someday the bitch is gonna make me crack! Might be the last time she calls me lazy! [Chorus] I'm a let down! Pardon me! If I'm a let down To my family! I'm a let down! 1-2-3 I'm a let down! Are you like me? And now my sister's got a fancy car. I got a piece of **** from 1980. But, at least, I got my two guitars And a one-way ticket to nowhere baby! [Chorus] Oh! No! No! Now, I've got a dream. They don't understand, It won't be long. I'm not what I seem. See I've got a plan.. THATS RIGHT! [Chorus] Sometime, they act like I don't exist. Or else they treat me like I'm still eleven. Heaven knows I can't take more of this. I never thought I'd be 27.. And a let down! [Chorus]

aejdude Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 Hoobastank - What Happened To Us? "What Happened To Us?" [Verse 1:] I thought it was too good to be true I found somebody who understands me Someone who would help me to get through And fill an emptiness i had inside me But you kept inside and I just denied Some things that we should have both said I knew it was too good to be true Cause i'm the only one who understands me [Chorus:] What happened to us We used to be so perfect, now we're lost and lonely What happened to us And deep inside I wonder, did i lose my only? [Verse 2:] Remember they thought we were too young To really know what it takes to make it But we had survived off what we have done So we could show them all that they're mistaken But who could have known the lies that would grow Until we could see right through them Remember they knew we were too young We still don't know what it takes to make it [Chorus] [bridge:] We could have made it work, we could have found a way, We should have done our best to see another day But we kept it all inside until it was too late And now we're both alone, the consequence we pay For throwing it all away, for throwing it all away... [Chorus]
Emma_B Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 This song is by Katey Sagal, who plays Kate Hennessey on 8 Simple Rules and was Peg Bundy on Married...With Children. She sang it on one episode of 8 Simple Rules in Season 2, also called Daddy's Girl. It is a country song, quite slow, and is absolutely beautiful. Daddy’s Girl My old man I’m a chip off the old block My old man Is still living here Not in flesh and bone, he’s never far from home I’m forever walkin in my daddy’s shoes I’ve got his misery, I got good company Guess I’ll always be My daddy’s girl My momma sang Call it inspiration And she’s comin on through me I can feel her now Though she walks on the other side To me she’s still quite alive I’m forever rockin in my mommas arms Mom had a broken heart From a world just too damn hard Mine breaks often cause I’m a momma’s girl You spend a lifetime saying this is who I am Then you find yourself saying something You don’t understand, you look in the mirror There you are Your daddy’s girl
Cal Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 Carly Simmons - Your So Vain You walked into the party like you were walking onto a yacht Your hat strategically dipped below one eye Your scarf it was apricot You had one eye on the mirror as you watched yourself gavotte And all the girls dreamed that they’d be your partner They’d be your partner, and... You’re so vain, you probably think this song is about you You’re so vain, I’ll bet you think this song is about you Don’t you? don’t you? You had me several years ago when I was still quite naive Well you said that we made such a pretty pair And that you would never leave But you gave away the things you loved and one of them was me I had some dreams, they were clouds in my coffee Clouds in my coffee, and... I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee Clouds in my coffee, and... Well I hear you went up to saratoga and your horse naturally won Then you flew your lear jet up to nova scotia To see the total eclipse of the sun Well you’re where you should be all the time And when you’re not you’re with Some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend Wife of a close friend, and...

Liz Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 Hey Jude - The Beatles Hey, Jude, don't make it bad Take a sad song and make it better Remember to let her into your heart Then you can start to make it better Hey, Jude, don't be afraid You were made to go out and get her The minute you let her under your skin Then you begin to make it better. And any time you feel the pain, hey, Jude, refrain Don't carry the world upon your shoulders Well don't you know that its a fool who plays it cool By making his world a little colder Hey, Jude! Don't let her down You have found her, now go and get her Remember, to let her into your heart Then you can start to make it better. So let it out and let it in, hey, Jude, begin You're waiting for someone to perform with And don't you know that it's just you, hey, Jude, You'll do, the movement you need is on your shoulder Hey, Jude, don't make it bad Take a sad song and make it better Remember to let her into your heart Then you can start to make it better
