msf Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 Non offensive lyrics here. Screemfeeder (d/l from http://www.mp3.com.au/artist.asp?id=777 ) Stopless If I'm talking in past tense, I have lived a charmed existence, now that change is in the air, another scar we will compare. I thought at times I'd been enlightened, to tell the truth I'd become frightened of all the things I've never learned, and all the energy I'd burned on all those stupid boys that I thought were worth my time and I would die for, I'd lose my head and when my heart felt I'd add to my life's list of disappointment. He sounded good on the phone, I'd walk at night on my own, I knew that it was worth it, and I'd never have to do it again. I've been having weird dreams again, I just want to have the one where I win. And all those times they've said this job's for you, some DSS guy wouldn't have a clue about what I will achieve in my life, it's not some nine to five thing or a house wife, not that any of those things are bad, it's just never been a dream the I've had. I've got a dark ambition in me, I will be independent and free, and all the stupid things I've done, I'll never have to do them again. Deletia I couldn't see, pressed my face against the glass. Transparency up to the sun betrays my past. Chances are this has been a big mistake, I have learned to embrace the things I hate. It's always been the same with you, your lies have always been see through. Make lists of things you want to buy, plastic piled up into the sky. I forgot what it's like to write by hand, no one teaches us that glass is made of sand. I've trained myself to enjoy what I can't taste, pre-determined to subconsciously erase. Conditioning that will make us discard the things we know won't last, restrict what's in your memory, pretend you don't act randomly. This is the future purposely, non-interactive apathy. You'll wait in line so patiently, undo your brain like tapestry. Instant microwave train of thought, social behaviour should be taught to children who think nintendo's sport. Language and virus, one and nought. Avoid your life.
Pierced Musie Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 Dan - I posted some lyrics on page 1 but I'm not sure if they are suitable for this board now. It has obvious references to drug use so should I take it down?
msf Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 Yeah sorry guys we did lose all the rules when the board crashed so we were bound to forget one of them when we put them back up Basically the board is for all ages, so no naughty words <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The first amendment has taken quite a beating here.
msf Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 John Butler Trio Media What you watch, what you read What you percieve is to be truth It is all so subjective So what you believe is up to you But what are we to believe in Between the lies and the truth? Youth Media has vested interest So what you believe is up to you. But how are we to make sense of these turbulent times When all they do is censor our minds Only telling what they want us to know Only half of the story told So what is wrong? What is right? No truth can there be seen Well it's all there in your new religion Just turn on your TV screen Watch the sex and drugs and all that violence Look what they are feeding you Propaganda yes indeed its, its all there to confuse But how are we to make sense of these turbulent times When all they do is brainwash our minds Only telling what they want us to know Only half of the story told And if the truth can't be found I'll find my own underground And if the truth is never to be seen I'll find my own in between What you watch, what you read What you percieve is to be truth It is all so subjective So what you believe is up to you But what are we to believe in Between the lies and the truth? Youth Media has vested interest So what you believe is up to you. You know its up to you Don't believe the lies, read between the lines, Don't believe the lies, critically analyse Home is Where the heart is Hard working people from another land looking for a little more Coming to this country for a helping hand You know they sail their ships upon these shores And they are lookin for a freedom that most of us don't appreciate But you know man we can't let them in Cos the government's full of racial hate And then they got the nerve to say They be takin our culture away even though our ancestors tried to do the same to the Aborigine Seems strange to me man strange to me Don't it seem strange to you That a country founded on immigration is so damned racist too And i say Home Home is where the heart is yeah Home And then they got the nerve to say they be takin our jobs away Even though half the jobs that we're working for are owned from overseas and the other half of the companies Yes Yes that they say that we rightly own They operate on aisle three third world That's right yeah the sweat shop zone And I say I don't know what's going on Don't know what the hell to say The government decides on letting refugees in and when they get here yes they are detained And i don't know what's going on Don't know the reason why We live in an educated so called democracy Where everybody decides to believe in lies Believe in lies Home is where the heart is yeah Home. Old Man Old man he looks out the window You know he gets quite a fright. Whole world has gone and changed on him Feels like it was overnight. He saw a world war yeah it came and went The man walked on the moon right there in his living room Saw that TV become a relgion , The Wall came down and Big Mac beat the communists. Feels like it was overnight. Old man looks out the window You know he can not open it anymore. The air outside its gone to rancid And the doctor said for him you know it wouldn't be so good for He saw a hole start opening up in the sky He's buying water man he doesn't even know why The smog alerts don't let him even go outside And then he start he start to think When the Earth it start to die. Feel like it was overnight Enjoy your last. Last taste of freedom! Old man he looks out the window You know he does not feel so safe anymore. he come from those supposed good ole days When you did not even have to go lock your doors He saw security man look Police man Saw the Police start looking like the Army Man, He saw Army start acting like the C.I.A And guess what, the C.I.A was the president. Feels like it was overnight Enjoy your last. Last taste of freedom!
Si-Co Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 I WAS ONLY 19 by REDGUM Mum and Dad and Denny saw the passing-out parade at Puckapunyal It was a long march from cadets. The sixth battalion was the next to tour, and it was me who drew the card. We did Canungra, Shoalwater before we left. And Townsville lined the footpaths as we marched down to the quay This clipping from the paper shows us young and strong and clean. And there's me in my slouch hat with my SLR and greens. God help me, I was only nineteen. From Vung Tau, riding Chinooks, to the dust at Nui Dat I'd been in and out of choppers now for months. But we made our tents a home, VB and pinups on the lockers And an Asian orange sunset through the scrub. And can you tell me, doctor, why I still can't get to sleep? And night-time's just a jungle dark and a barking M16? And what's this rash that comes and goes, can you tell me what it means? God help me, I was only ninteen. A four week operation when each step could mean your last one on two legs It was a war within yourself. But you wouldn't let your mates down til they had you dusted off So you closed your eyes and thought about something else. Then someone yelled out "Contact!" and the bloke behind me swore We hooked in there for hours, then a Godalmighty roar Frankie kicked a mine the day that mankind kicked the moon, God help me, he was going home in June. I can still see Frankie, drinking tinnies in the Grand Hotel On a thirty-six hour rec leave in Vung Tau And I can still hear Frankie, lying screaming in the jungle Til the morphine came and killed the bloody row. And the Anzac legends didn't mention mud and blood and tears And the stories that my father told me never seemed quite real. I caught some pieces in my back that I didn't even feel God help me, I was only nineteen. And can you tell me, doctor, why I still can't get to sleep? And why the Channel Seven chopper chills me to my feet? And what's this rash that comes and goes, can you tell me what it means? God help me, I was only nineteen.
Liz Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 One of my favourite songs of all time - I Miss You - Blink 182. Hello there, the angel from my nightmare The shadow in the background of the morgue The unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley We can live like Jack and Sally if we want Where you can always find me We'll have Halloween on Christmas And in the night we'll wish this never ends We'll wish this never ends I miss you, I miss you (x2) Where are you and I'm so sorry I cannot sleep I cannot dream tonight I need somebody and always This sick strange darkness Comes creeping on so haunting every time And as I stared I counted Webs from all the spiders Catching things and eating their insides Like indecision to call you and hear your voice of treason Will you come home and stop this pain tonight Stop this pain tonight Don't waste your time on me you're already The voice inside my head (I miss you, I miss you) Don't waste your time on me you're already The voice inside my head (I miss you, I miss you) (x3) (I miss you, I miss you) (x4)
msf Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 Fall Down by Jebediah Thought police have busted in And broken up and stolen almost everything They've a job to do a special mission To reinstate their point of view It's in with the old order out with the new They're the guys that wrote that song That's been playing on the airwaves all day long It's a catchy tune hummable melody And you can't drive it from your brain It's got a chorus that repeats over and over again Window, opportunity I got a message and it comes for free There's another way that way is real But you just won't get it till the walls fall down till the walls fall down till the walls fall down till the walls fall down...
