The Cure Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 I was gonna post some Interpol, but these are just so pretty.....oh heck, i'll do both. Enjoy people! There is a light that never goes out-The Smiths Take me out tonight Where there’s music and there’s people And they’re young and alive Driving in your car I never never want to go home Because I haven’t got one Anymore Take me out tonight Because I want to see people and i Want to see life Driving in your car Oh, please don’t drop me home Because it’s not my home, it’s their Home, and I’m welcome no more And if a double-decker bus Crashes into us To die by your side Is such a heavenly way to die And if a ten-ton truck Kills the both of us To die by your side Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine Take me out tonight Take me anywhere, I don’t care I don’t care, I don’t care And in the darkened underpass I thought oh god, my chance has come at last (but then a strange fear gripped me and i Just couldn’t ask) Take me out tonight Oh, take me anywhere, I don’t care I don’t care, I don’t care Driving in your car I never never want to go home Because I haven’t got one, da ... Oh, I haven’t got one And if a double-decker bus Crashes into us To die by your side Is such a heavenly way to die And if a ten-ton truck Kills the both of us To die by your side Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine Oh, there is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out
The Cure Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 Evil-Interpol One of the best songs ever written, In my humble opinion of course.... Rosemary Heaven restores you in life Coming with me Through the aging, the fear and the strife It's the smiling on the package It's the faces in the sand It's the thought that holds you upwards Embracing me with two hands Write, we'll take you places Yeah maybe to the beach When your friends they do come crying Tell them how your pleasure's set up on slow-release Hey wait Great smile Sensitive to faith not Denial But hey whose on trial? It took a life spent With no cellmate The long way back Sandy why can't we look the other way? He speaks about travel Yeah, we think about the land We smile like all people Feeling real tan I can take you places Do you need a new man? Wipe the pollen from the faces Make revision to a dream while you wait in the van Hey wait Great smile Sensitive to faith not Denial But hey whose on trial? It took a life spent With no cellmate Find a long way back Sandy why can't we look the other way? You're weightless, you are exotic You need something for which to care Sandy why can't we look the other way? Leave some shards under the belly Lay some grease inside my hand It's a sentimental jury And the makings of a good plan You've come to love me nightly Yeah you've come to hold me tight Is this motion everlasting Or do shutters pass in the night? Rosemary Oh heaven restores you in life I spent a lifespan with no cellmate The long way back Sandy why can't we look the other way? You're weightless, semi-erotic You need someone to take you there Sandy why can't we look the other way? Why can't we just play the other game? Why can't we just look the other way?
msf Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 I didn't know you liked the Smiths as well. We're almost the same (I draw the line just before the Beatles). And yeah Evil is a great song (I feel sorry for those who've never heard it) and Interpol are a great band.
The Cure Posted August 13, 2005 Report Posted August 13, 2005 Yah, I am Smiths fanatic. Mozza is my hero. Cool to see someone with good taste! But......Not even Strawberry Fields??? Come on, the Beatles were awesome!

Di Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 Linkin Park~Numb I’m tired of being what you want me to be Feeling so faithless lost under the surface Don’t know what you’re expecting of me Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes (caught in the undertone just caught in the undertone) Every step I take is another mistake to you (caught in the undertone just caught in the undertone) I’ve become so numb I can’t feel you there I’ve become so tired so much more aware I’ve becoming this all I want to do Is be more like me and be less like you Can’t you see that you’re smothering me Holding too tightly afraid to lose control Cause everything that you thought I would be Has fallen apart right in front of you (caught in the undertone just caught in the undertone) Every step that I take is another mistake to you (caught in the undertone just caught in the undertone) And every second I waste is more than I can take I’ve become so numb I can’t feel you there I’ve become so tired so much more aware I’ve becoming this all I want to do Is be more like me and be less like you And I know I may end up failing too But I know You were just like me with someone disappointed in you I’ve become so numb I can’t feel you there I’ve become so tired so much more aware I’ve becoming this all I want to do Is be more like me and be less like you I’ve become so numb I can’t feel you there Is everything what you want me to be I’ve become so numb I can’t feel you there Is everything what you want me to be

I love music Posted August 28, 2005 Report Posted August 28, 2005 Yah, I am Smiths fanatic. Mozza is my hero. Cool to see someone with good taste! But......Not even Strawberry Fields??? Come on, the Beatles were awesome! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeh, I agree. They're not exactly my favourite band - I like so many singers and groups - but they're definitely right up there with all my other faves like Meatloaf, Queen, Paul Simon, Credence Clearwater Revival, Smokey Robinson, Beautiful South, Human League etc etc etc...
Liz Posted August 28, 2005 Report Posted August 28, 2005 The Beatles were awesome and probably the best musical act the world has ever seen, or at least the most prestigious. My late grandma was a big fan (as a lot of people her age were), as was my late auntie... and I like to carry on the tradition of listening to their music (but I won't go as far as to listen to Grandma's favourite Frankie Vaughan)!
The Cure Posted August 28, 2005 Report Posted August 28, 2005 Ooh I love Paul Simon..... Here is my favourite Simon and Garfunkle song. So beautiful. The Sound of Silence: Hello darkness, my old friend, I’ve come to talk with you again, Because a vision softly creeping, Left it’s seeds while I was sleeping, And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence. In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone, ’neath the halo of a street lamp, I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of A neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence. And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more. People talking without speaking, People hearing without listening, People writing songs that voices never share And no one deared Disturb the sound of silence. Fools said i,you do not know Silence like a cancer grows. Hear my words that I might teach you, Take my arms that I might reach you. But my words like silent raindrops fell, And echoed In the wells of silence And the people bowed and prayed To the neon God they made. And the sign flashed out it’s warning, In the words that it was forming. And the signs said, the words of the prophets Are written on the subway walls And tenement halls. And whisper’d in the sounds of silence. EDIT: Hmmm, I would definetly put the Beatles up as ONE of the best musical acts of all times, but I feel that the Kinks get criminally overlooked for this position. The Beatles actually nicked alot of their, supposedly original, musical style from the Kinks. Alot of the Beatles' experimental stuff came from the Kinks early work. And surely there is no more perfect a pop song than Waterloo Sunset?
