-Kevin- Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 EastEnders screen couple Kara Tointon and Ricky Groves are to be written out of the BBC soap. The contracts of the pair were allegedly up for renewal this summer, but the soap's producers took the decision to write them out in a storyline which sees their characters' relationship put to the test. Speaking of the move, 25-year-old Tointon, who has played unlucky-in-love mother Dawn Swann since 2005, said: "Being at EastEnders has been the best four years of my life. The show has given me fantastic opportunities and I've been able to learn so much from the people I've worked with. I will always hold the show dear to my heart and will continue to be an avid fan." She added: "I'm excited about what the next few months have in store for Dawn and as an actress I look forward to trying new roles." Meanwhile, Groves, 40, commented: "It is coming on to ten years now that I have been at EastEnders. The programme has been very kind to me over the years and it has been a wonderful experience playing the role of the loveable Garry Hobbs. However now seems a good time to try new opportunities and I am looking forward to exploring new things." Executive producer Diederick Santer said of the move: "EastEnders has benefited hugely from Ricky and Kara's great performances over the last few years. As individuals and together Garry and Dawn have had their share of comedy, drama and excitement and Ricky and Kara have delivered it all with talent, skill and flair." He added: "They've got some fantastic stuff to come - this spring and summer sees their love truly put to the test - and they go with our thanks and very best wishes." Meanwhile, an insider teased: "There's another spanner in the works to come for the hapless mechanic when his relationship with Dawn is once against tested this summer. Will there be a happy ending or will they go their separate ways when they leave Walford?" The pair will remain filming until summer and will bow out on screen later in the year.
Laura Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Can't say I will miss them that much, but it will be weird not seeing them around.
-Kevin- Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 ^^ Yeah I agree. They are so boring and I won give them a second thought. I always hated Garry - all they need to do now is axe Minty then we will be in business I used to like Dawn before all the stuff with Jase happened . It was brilliant when herself,Carly and Shabnam were best friends and were always hanging around. I loved Shabs and Carly
Lesley Bee Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 Im not really that bothered either, i can take them or leave them.
-Kevin- Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 SHOCK EASTENDERS PREGNANCY EastEnders cheese lover Heather Trott gets the shock of her life in a few weeks' time when she realises that she is pregnant, sparking a 'who's the daddy?' mystery. The news come within a couple of months of Heather's incident in R&R night club, when an unidentified man returned her lucky yoghurt pot lid. Unlucky in love Heather - played by Cheryl Fergison - thought that she had found the man of her dreams last month after meeting and kissing a keen male suitor called Eddie in R&R. However, with Shirley (Linda Henry) having hired a male escort for the night to cheer her best friend up, Dawn (Kara Tointon) broke the news to Heather that she believed Eddie to be a gigolo, prompting Eddie to leave the club and a devastated Heather to bolt into the toilets in tears. Having lost her lucky yoghurt lid from what she thought to be 'George Michael's house', Heather was taken aback when someone's hand reached under the cubicle to return her good luck charm. Her unidentified suitor is thought to be the baby's father. An EastEnders insider told DS: "Heather's love life has never gone smoothly, so when she finds out she's pregnant, she's shocked. But the question everyone will want to know is: who's the daddy?"
-Kevin- Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Nobody ever expected the wedding of an evil control freak like Archie to feisty landlady Peggy to go smoothly. For as the first family of soap, the Mitchells are guaranteed to attract trouble. But few people could ever have predicted the astonishing events that culminate in an hour-long special on Thursday. Thrilling, shocking and tragic, these are some of Enders' best episodes ever. And there's a new twist to the couple's wedding vows. "Love, honour and betray," probably isn't part of the traditional service - even if "Till death us do part" is. There's sinister groom Archie trying to bully his bubbly bride into marrying him in such a dowdy outfit that it would make sackcloth and ashes look glamorous. "Wear what you want," neice Ronnie tells a troubled Peggy firmly. "What's he gunna do? Not marry yer?" Funny you should say that... But Ronnie's also a reluctant bridesmaid with sister Roxy. Still squabbling over Jack, they're looking such daggers at each other it's a wonder neither of them has a knife stuck between their shoulder blades. "What 'appens between me and Jack is our business," Roxy tells Ron. "He's the father of my child. He's good looking. An' he's loaded. An' he's great in bed." Then that pitiful little waif Danielle gatecrashes the ceremony with her explosive family secret. "Don't pretend you don't know," she howls desperately at Ronnie as a furious Archie tries to wrestle her away. "Grandad told you. Your dad told you. That you're my mother!" Disbelief turns to joy, then absolute horror and finally to loathing as Ronnie realises exactly how wicked Archie's been. "You mean nothing to me, and you mean nothing to Danielle," she spits at him. "And if you go within one mile of my daughter, I will kill you." Be warned, mate. She means it

-Kevin- Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Jessie Wallace has decided that she wants to reprise her role as EastEnders favourite Kat Slater, a report claims. The actress played the Queen Vic barmaid between 2000 and 2005 before leaving to pursue other projects. She has since appeared in BBC dramas The Dinner Party and A Class Apart, as well as ITV1's Wild At Heart and reality show Strictly Come Dancing. An insider told the Sunday Mirror: "Jessie is very excited about playing Kat again. She's been off screen for a few years and a lot has happened since she was last in the show. "She feels the time is right for a return and says she can't wait to get back into the Square and stuck into some meaty storylines." An EastEnders spokesperson insisted that there are no "immediate" plans to bring the character back, but added: "Where big favourites like Kat are concerned, we would never say never."
