-Kevin- Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 OMFG latest Emmerdale signing Former Hollyoaks actor James Sutton has joined the cast of Emmerdale. The 26-year-old, who starred as John Paul McQueen in the Channel 4 soap, is to take on the role of mechanic Ryan Lamb, son of Faye (Kim Thomson). Ryan first appears in the village in June and quickly becomes entangled in his mother's revenge plot against Mark Wylde (Maxwell Caulfield), while also catching the attention of many of the local females, most notably Katie Sugden (Sammy Winward). As Mark attempts to prevent the skeletons in his closet from emerging, Ryan's arrival makes the self-made millionaire realise just what his lies could cost him. Speaking of his signing, Sutton said: "I'm thrilled to be joining a show as respected and well-loved as Emmerdale. It was always on in our house when I was growing up so I’m excited to be a part of it. "I'm looking forward to playing such an interesting character and one so different from previous roles I've played." Series producer Gavin Blyth added: "This year will spell a new era for Emmerdale and I'm delighted to be welcoming James to the cast as a key component in the new direction the show will be taking. James is an extremely talented actor and will bring a real presence to the role of Ryan." Sutton is the fourth actor announced to be joining Emmerdale as part of the show's 2009 revamp. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Jeff Hordley will reprise his role as Cain Dingle at the end of April. At the same time, UK soap's first blind actress Kitty McGeever joins as Lisa Dingle's (Jane Cox) friend Lizzie Lakely. Emma Atkins is also due to return as vixen Charity Tate. Sutton announced his decision to quit Hollyoaks in June last year following his two-year stint as John Paul when the teen soap's McDean storyline reached its natural Sunset Ending resolve. His departure tied in with the brief return of Guy Burnet as Craig Dean. At the end of last year, Sutton made a guest appearance as a narcoleptic in Casualty. Quote
-Kevin- Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 OMG!! I can't wait for this Yeah me too !! I loved him while he was in Hollyoaks , I hope he wil be just as good on Emmerdale Quote
xGlowingAngelx Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 I'm glad I don't watch Emmerdale. Imagine how shattered my poor illusions would be if I had to face the reality that JP isn't real and that he and Craig aren't all snuggled up living happily ever after in Dublin? It'd be a slap in the face.......... Realistically though, I couldn't have been more shocked when I heard. As I say, I'm not an Emmerdale watched and despite being a James fan, can't see myself tuning in just because he's joined the cast. The peeps at the JS forum are quite unsure aswell. I think it's safe to say we'll all tune in for maybe the first few episodes, but not sure about keeping us as long term viewers...... Quote
-Kevin- Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Its gonna be so weird seeing James onscreen on Emmerdale and he wont be gay Quote
Mrs Bishop Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Well I suppose we have anoth home robbery on our hands, I dont think if thats what there going to do Emmerdale are in the wrong, Arron is so bad he will deserve to be put away for good. Quote
TachelHolden Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 I saw this in the paper today and was like John-Paul with out no Craig Quote
xGlowingAngelx Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 But he IS with Craig. He really, really is I might stick it on to record and fast forward the non-James bits. I don't intend to get emotionally attached to the show, but since I've tended to follow James's career since he left Oaks, I'll see what it's like. Although I've also heard something about Charity returning is that true? Because back when I watched Emmerdale, she was one of my faves....... Quote
