Slade
A bit of catching up to do. Firstly I felt really sorry for Will tail end of last week when he just wanted his dad and said he’s the only friend Mark’s got. Maisie still wants Ryan. Out of interest I wonder what will happen when those two are left alone together. I like the way Faye went to the pub asking Maisie where Daniel (sorry Mark) was, Maisie completely lost it and then Faye went round to Natasha’s asking the same thing but seemingly oblivious to how much of a cheek it was her asking in the first place. Sheesh what was Nicola’s problem yesterday? If it wasn’t for their baby I’m not sure Jimmy would want to marry her TBH. Can you imagine condemning yourself to the rest of your life with her? In saying that I’ve really enjoyed the banter between Nicola Carl, Chas, Jimmy and Scarlett. Especially the way they tried to wind her up in the pub yesterday and she bought it. I thought it was quite unnerving when Ashley was driving and Sally appeared out of nowhere before he ran her over. I’m glad he’s finally seen through her but now other people doubt his belief that he thinks she’s dangerous. I wonder if he’ll put two and two together and figure out she tried to kill Laurel. Red Ranger 1
Glad that Ashley's finally seen through Sally, when I first heard that she was sticking around until after Christmas I was worried we'd get months of the same so I'm glad it's progressed.Don't really have any sympathy for Ashley, he practically led the witch hunt against her husband and now he's finding himself on the other side. Felt sorry for Rodney when Nicola ignored his present but at least she worked it out in the end with a bit of nudging from Scarlett.Val and Eric arranging a meal for Sam and Olena was uncharacteristically kind of them.Paddy and Chastity seemed a bit odd around each other:Even though she and Carl seem happy at the moment, I can actually see her going back there at some point. One of those nice, slightly off-the-wall episodes that Emmerdale does well. Lesley Bee
God that Sally Spode is one evil twisted woman when is she going to take the hint and realise no one wants her there.
devon
Thank God that christening story-line is over. As much as I like 'Nico' and Jimmy, It was starting to get tedious. Spode is soooo ridiculous a character. Her departure better be explosive and worth it - to make up for all the stupid writing. And, why didn't Ashley go to be with Laurel right away - now that there's nothing stopping him leaving? Slade
Wow people actually like Nicola. Both yesterday’s episodes did seem to be focused quite a bit on her although admittedly there was the Ashley/Sally storyline which I went off ages ago. Nice to see it was her daughter’s big day but as Scarlett said all she was thinking about was herself and the whole thing seemed to be about her. Let’s face it she was the one who wanted all the presents. I thought she was quite insensitive with Rodney and annoyed me even more regarding her attitude towards Ashley. I’m so sick and tired of her having a go at him and taking the moral high ground, incidentally I thought Ashley was an idiot the way he was acting before Laurel left. I think it’s ironic that Ashley believes Vincent was the innocent party in what happened with Sally before now. Quite like the stuff with Nikhil, Debbie and Cain. I thought Cain was being a bit too nice when he offered to let Nikhil leave the car at the garage overnight. I thought for a minute that perhaps there might be something between Nikhil and Debbie. Can’t imagine him trying it on with Cain around or considering his attempts to charm Natasha at New Year's.
Mrs Bishop
I,m so glad Asley has wisened up to that Sally Spode but what a bunnie boiler she is and fancy George the Bishop taking her word over a clery man who he asked to keep his eye on her, Well one thing came out of the christining Nicola was happy she had a cam corder to play with over a plate (silver at that) her Father had trawled the net to find for her baby , how selfish can a girl be well we are talking about Nicola Wheeler. devon
That 'Gestapo' bloke who appeared with the Bishop today was well creepy. Was he on Father Ted one-time? Wow people actually like Nicola. ohmy.gif Yes, she's a selfish bitch - but her and Jimmy are good for each other, imo. Nice to see Chas show off her considerate side toady. Mind you, killer Carl was hardly accommodating towards Aaron... Edited January 23, 2010 by devon
Slade
Wow people actually like Nicola. ohmy.gif Yes, she's a selfish bitch - but her and Jimmy are good for each other, imo. Nice to see Chas show off her considerate side toady. Mind you, killer Carl was hardly accommodating towards Aaron... Really for someone who isn’t an out and out villain I really don’t see how she is the remotest way likeable. She’s a miserable, bitter, sour-faced cow who spends most of her time obsessing over other people’s money and how she would like to spend it (although I think I’m beginning to understand how some people can like her for being a b*tch). She epitomizes self-centredness. Thursday’s episodes were a prime example. It was her daughter’s christening yet she turned the whole thing around a made it all about her and how her day was almost ruined. Not to mention that she’s been living under Carl’s roof and not one iota of gratitude. All she does is give him grief. I do think she can be quite funny sometimes. Indirectly of course. By that I meant that way Carl, Chas, Scarlett etc like to take the mick out of her and she seems quite oblivious to it still acting like she owns the place. Anyway looks like Ashley’s up the creak without a paddle. Me thinks Nikhil’s got the hots for Debbie. I don’t think it was an outright rejection when she turned down his invitation for a drink, possibly he was too subtle. Perhaps a more direct approach is required. For a minute I actually thought Nicola and Carl were going to turn a corner. Chas had some cheek getting upset about his kids moving in (Incidentally I didn’t even realise he had any) considering that Paddy let Aaron stay at his even when they were going out. After his obsession with the money Cain stole I think there is potential for a half decent storyline which could bring out a softer side in Carl. Speaking of Paddy considering the stuff that happened at the christening (after he accidentally touched Chas’s bosom and I thought for a minute they almost had a moment) and the fact that Carl has both of his kids under his roof in an already overcrowded house I sense trouble brewing with Carl and Chas. Slade
Two characters who I normally don’t get all that excited about, I really liked in last night’s episode - Namely Carl and Charity. As I thought I quite liked seeing a different side to Carl struggling to balance work and looking after his kids. Thought it was big of him when he swallowed his pride and asked Charity to do the run and reluctantly agreed to pay her a time and a half just so he could spend the day playing dad. Glad Chas seems to have warmed to the idea slightly. I thought Charity was great. The way she dressed up looking professional only to be disappointed at being turned down at the front door, her annoyance at Debbie and Cain making another bet that she wouldn’t get a job, getting Carl to practically beg her and then getting him to pay her more money than what he was originally offering. Also really liked Nikhil’s reaction when he saw she was going to do the delivery, Nicola’s and Jimmy’s reactions when they saw her return the van and Cain’s annoyance that she took the job just to get one over on him…..as if!
