Slade Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 I don’t mind Jackson and I’ve said this before but unless he makes a miraculous recovery I’m not sure what else the writers can do with his character. TBH I would be happy if Hazel bought herself a one way ticket to the moon. I was quite frustrated that Charity decided to change her statement thus letting Cain off the hook. I just feel that he has the carte blanche to do anything without there being any real consequences. TBH I can’t really blame Charity though, Debbie didn’t really leave her any choice, Ryan wasn’t going to say anything to the police and we all know how intimidating Cain can be. And now Cain thinks the tide has turned and he’s winning. I wasn’t expecting Ryan to go. I didn’t realise the actor had left. Thinking about it I shouldn’t really be too surprised as since the Mark Wylde storyline was over he hasn’t done very much. Considering that Faye only left about a couple of weeks ago he actually could have gone with her to San Francisco. I suppose the writers wanted them to have separate goodbyes. I was a bit disappointed there was only a minute between him and Katie before he went. Quote

Liz Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 I thought the same, regarding Ryan's departure so soon after Faye's. They both had very anti-climatic exits which, in fairness, summed up their storylines for the past few months. Ryan was a good character, IMO, and it seems a shame that TPTB ran out of stories for him (or couldn't be bothered writing any) when the actor had done such a good job on the set-up/prison storyline. Regarding Cain/Charity, it has become far too repetitive. For me, unless something new happens, I wouldn't miss Cain if he left tomorrow. I was excited about Debbie's return, but she has done hardly anything in the months she's been back, other than have a tedious romance and referee her parents' squabbles. Bring Jasmine back, I say. Red Ranger 1 Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 To be honest, Cain's one of those characters I just have to tune out:The pantomime villain who always gets away with everything. If I expected anything else or thought about it seriously, I'd just get angry. Well, Alex was a real charmer with Hannah.Assuming the line about "dating the boss' daughter" wasn't just a way to get rid of her, you'd think sleeping with the boss' daughter and then giving her the flick would be more likely to get him fired.I can see him making Victoria the next notch on his bedpost, or at least trying to, and I can see John and Andy being none too pleased when they find out. Wasn't entirely happy about Rhona going back on her promise to Marlon and the way he was clearly devastated by it and found her a bit stuck up in the aftermath.I was actually glad that Paddy stood up to her and decided to support his friend and hope he doesn't suffer too much as a result. Nice that Jimmy finally seems to be waking up to the truth about Kelly, who does at least finally seem to be being honest, although it does look as though he's burnt his bridges with Nicola.I wonder if Eve regrets getting involved with her now. Slade Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 Rhona really annoyed me to be honest when she changed her mind about letting the baby stay over at Marlon's. You could tell he was devastated. At first I thought she did it because she was annoyed that he told everyone the baby had downs syndrome before she did but that just appeared to be the trigger for something she'd been wanting do for some time. Alex and Hannah seemed a bit like Romeo and Emily but at least he was a little more pleasant than Romeo was. I was also thinking he wanted to bag Victoria next and assuming he's successful Amy after that but he won't get anywhere with her because she's busy focusing on David - Unless she wants to try and make David jealous (A lot of assumptions there). I think Alex is playing with fire TBH. We saw what John was like when Alex had slept in, turned up late and wasn't pulling his weight at work. I suspect he'll hit the roof. It's funny, for the most part I thought Kelly was a lying manipulative cow but I don't think I realised until this evening how much she actually loves Jimmy. For the first time when she was being honest I don't know why but I did feel quite sorry for her and part of me was almost rooting for them to get back together but the other part couldn't help thinking that Nicola is the innocent party in all of this and as much of a cow she can be at times too she doesn't really deserve it. Red Ranger 1 Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 It must have been very upsetting for Lisa that the jury didn't believe her but I guess the important thing is Derek's been locked up, even if they didn't get him for everything.Although I could see he thought he was helping, Zak probably should have respected her wishes and stayed away.I did like it when he came round to see Lisa at Debbie's and managed to persuade her to come back home though and they seem to be moving forward at last. Amy's crush on David comes to a head.I thought she was out of line making out something had happened between them, although her wording did seem a bit ambiguous and it might have been Victoria making assumptions and Amy running with them.Either way, running off like she has is going to make things hard on both of them.At least David had the sense to tell Leyla, Eric and Alicia what happened before Victoria started spreading muck about. Not too comfortable about the way Pearl was listening in on the conversation, I don't know if she can be trusted to keep her mouth shut. As expected, Alex has moved on to Victoria. She seems to have her head screwed on a bit more but I wonder how she'd react if she knew he'd slept with Hannah first. There were some quite amusing moments on Jackson, Aaron and Hazel's trip away, with Hazel being seasick and Aaron bottling out of the skydive.Despite the underlying seriousness, Jackson's sarcastic commentary does often make me smile. Slade Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 The main problem with Lisa was that she didn’t report the rape straight away. The police even dropped the charges before the second victim came forward so that in itself wasn’t a good starting point. Victoria’s attitude with this whole Amy/David thing has quite annoyed me but thinking about it although David was completely oblivious I don’t think he’s done himself any favours. I can see the way he’s been with Amy possibly could have been misconstrued as some sort of come on or at the very least flirtation. He was protective of her regarding Cain, he’s been spending a bit of time with her, he gave her the necklace (even though it belonged to Leyla and Leyla was OK with it) and there were the text messages. Even Alicia could see that Amy trying to come on to him and her attitude seems to be there’s no smoke without fire. I’m actually hoping Alex does bag Victoria, dumps her and then moves onto Amy as I think it would make for good TV. The problem is if he did treat Victoria like that I can’t see her keeping quiet about it. Some of Jackson’s comebacks can be really amusing. I love the way he injects a sense irony into his remarks. It’s funny but at the same time the whole situation is quite sad too. I missed the second half of Wednesday’s episode so I didn’t realise that something happened with Chas and Nikhil until the beginning of Thursday’s episode when she came down for breakfast. He’s so not her type. Still I think their relationship could be interesting and I didn’t mind the stuff with Charity and Jai. Gennie is clearly jealous because she fancies Nikhil so it will be interesting to see what happens there and also Cain's reaction when he finds out. Quote
Red Ranger 1 Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 So, Alex got his way with Victoria.Or possibly the other way round. He did seem a bit thrown to find she had as casual an attitude about it all as he did. Don't know what to make of Nikhil and Chas.It feels a bit random, they don't really have anything in common and I can see it fizzling out before too long.I feel a bit sorry for Gennie and I suspect Chas wouldn't have gone there if she knew she liked him, although trying to sabotage their date by sending them off to a dull Greek play was out of line. Adam and Ella?Well, I hope he knows what he's letting himself in for.Actually, he probably doesn't. When I saw Thursday's episode, I could understand why he'd go there, even if her being his girlfriend's mother and boss' wife makes it a Very Bad Idea. But then on Friday, she just came across as a drunken Sue Ellen type, plus she didn't look nearly as hot in that "revealing" dress as in that tight-fitting black pullover and trousers combo. So it seemed like an even worse idea. Slade Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 Quite displeased regarding this whole storyline with Amy and David. It was bad enough David actually considering giving her the money she demanded but no way should Eric have paid her off and I was really annoyed when he did. Very often with blackmailers they relinquish on their promises and we could see Amy still telling Hannah and Victoria (in spite Victoria believing that Amy was lying when she returned) that she was telling the truth and they paid her to be quiet. This is how Amy treats the people that have gone out of their way to help her. I found Diane’s attitude towards Eric quite annoying too. She seemed self-righteous and was only prepared to see things from Amy’s perspective. Well in one sense you could argue it’s a good thing Jimmy getting his memory back but it appears to be too late now. He’s already slept with Kelly and Nicola’s not prepared to get past that. I can understand that but this only means now that Kelly’s won. If Jimmy isn’t keen on her now and he really sees no hope with Nicola he might be tempted to cut his losses and just go back to Kelly anyway as there are no other options. Can’t stop smiling at all the all the Adam/Ella scenes. Although an extremely bad idea I can see where Adam is coming from considering how it’s handed to him on a plate. Don’t really know Ella well enough to determine what she’s like but you would have to say it’s one thing cheating on Declan (who she feels is neglecting her) but another thing doing the dirty on her own daughter. Found it quite funny when Declan came home unexpected and Ella quickly got Adam to vacate, putting his trousers and shoes in one of the draws and he was outside in just his shirt and underwear. I found it hard to believe Cain helped Holly purely out of the kindness of his heart but he didn’t seem interested in her romantically and I’m not sure he’d want to go there considering what happened with Amy. I do wonder if there’s going to be a follow on with the stuff with Moira considering that seemed like a threat he made towards her. Quote
