apparently melbourne could get close to 50 degrees next Saturday if everything goes to plan. Atm, an extremely hot airmass if forecast to reach us.

^^Think I'll move there. :)

I live in berwick (40km southeast of the city centre) and we had 45.6 temp on Thursday and a 45.3 on Friday - take my word for it, it's not something that you want! 20km down the road at Pakenham, it reached 46.7 degrees on Friday! Once temps reach these levels, the air stings your eyes, there's a strange odour in the air, similar to a bbq or something cooking or I don't know, and any object out in the sun gets so hot that you can only touch it for a few seconds. As soon as you walk out the door, you end up covered in sweat. Even all the spiders in my fences came out of their holes, presumably to avoid suffocation, something I've never seen before. There was also no flies, no wasps, no bees, none of those insects that usually come in plague proportions in summer. Even at night, there was no hint of any spider or insect, something which completely stunned me.

All the grass in the parks and fields and nature strips out here is literally burnt. The fields are actually a brownish colour. Theres a number of bushes near my place which spawn red berries ..... all of these berries were completely roasted, they were brown and wilted! :o

Heat of this magnitude is almost surreal! :o
