Cool pics Mar, I take it that's the niece you were telling us about? She's really cute, especially in her traditional outfit :-)

You look different when you're wearing that outfit, it's not your usual style, was it a special occasion in Norway or a special family occasion?

Terje looks rather dashing in his suit too! How old is Terje?

It's really not my style, no, but I "have to" wear it sometimes.. Today was May 17, Norway's National Day where we celebrate Norway's Constitution from 1814. My niece is in her last year of Kindergarten, so she was "pink russ" - a copy of the more traditional russ phenomenon.

From the wikipedia article: Only the red and the blue russ are considered "real russ" – at least in their own eyes – since the tradition started among the pupils of those types of schools.

In addition, sometimes children in the last year of kindergarten call themselves "pink russ" (rosaruss). In some places, children in the last year of ungdomsskolen (roughly comparable to junior high school) become "orange russ" (oransjruss). None of these have any real relation to the russ celebrations, though.

Terje is 25, but he looks young, I know. :P
