Cal Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 The Host by Stephanie Meyer I got to the end of chapter one. Only one acronym comes to mind: W...T...F
valli Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 ^ Don't worry, that was my first reaction too It gets better I'm reading The Shining by Stephen King... Holey smoley, it's scaring the crap out of me I'm surprised, considering I'm not easily scared by books
Cerise Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 It gets way better. It's weird at first, but it gets better. Middle of book = awesome
Cal Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 It gets better? Ok... I think I can manage that... I need to leave it for a while, though. I really don't think I'm in an alien mood
Barbara Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. I read it in French a few months ago. But now I'm reading it in English.
emmasi Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Just finished Cujo... Note to self, don't read Stephen King before bedtime. It's not that it's scary, it's just so SAD that I'm too depressed to sleep Why did I have to name that gorgeous rottweiler at the pound Cujo?? Why couldn't I take him home and make sure that he doesn't get killed horribly even though he's such a good, good, beautiful boy????? *CRIES!!!!* Do YOU need a rottweiler??? A young cross-bread male who's not so big and heavy as usual, and is an awesome dog, and is sweet and quiet and friendly, and even when certain incompetent volunteers let him escape from his leash outdoors, he comes running back to you all happy and smiling because he's just that wonderful and precious???! Sommersby RSPCA, people!!! GO GET HIM NOW!!!!
jenlee Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Is Cujo actually any good? I've had it sitting on my bookshelf for a few years now and just never gotten around to reading it...possibly because I know it's sad and I may cry.
emmasi Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 I think it's great, but I'm a Stephen King fan. There's not really a lot of action and that can make it drag, but I think that's kind of the point. It's very much a waiting game for the second half of the book. Before that, it's more a story about relationships and people hiding stuff from each other and being selfish and stupid and all that fun stuff. Although I do have to amend my previous statement. After trying to sleep for the past hour or so and getting freaked the hell out by car alarms and shadows... I think Cujo IS scary >.< Not because of the dog, who I maintain is a good boy... but because... monsters - whether they be rabid dogs or psycho exes or serial killers - are real and they CAN get you!!
