Macklin Group HQ

Description

The Macklin Group was owned by Gordon Macklin and employed various characters in the first couple of years of the show, during the inception of the Macklin owned Sands Resort in Summer Bay. Gordon’s office was located at the company’s main headquarters in ‘the city’, and we caught our first glimpse of them in Episode 263 when Gordon’s daughter Stacey made a sneaky night-time visit. Frank Morgan later left Summer Bay to work at the headquarters after realising his marriage to Bobby was over and he still had feelings for Roo Stewart. In Frank and Roo’s final episodes (338–339) Roo followed Frank to the city and met him outside the offices where they decided to give their relationship another go.

In reality the Macklin Group HQ is in fact the former Hills Shire Council offices (previously known as Baulkham Hills Shire Council) in the NW Sydney suburb of Castle Hill, adjacent to the Castle Hill Showground. The part of the building used for filming remains the same as it appeared in 1989. The council moved to new premises in early 2014.
