Esther settles in
After modeling for almost nine years, and another two more years presenting travel show Postcards, Esther Anderson (Charlie Buckton) finally auditioned for a role on Home and Away.
Anderson now plays the resilient cop Charlie.
“I always wanted to get into acting; it had always been on my mind. When I was little I was always performing for family and friends.” she says.
“I worked as a model and then decided it was time to give it a go so I moved back to Melbourne and took classes for a few years.”
Esther was based in Japan, but also modeled in Hong Kong, Korea, and Europe before returning home to Victoria.
“A few people come into acting with no experience at all, those rare people who just have great instincts and natural talent, but taking classes definitely helped me,” says Anderson.
Esther auditioned for the role of Charlie and she said she felt good about it from the start.
“I had a good idea about her, because you are given a great character background to prepare,” she said. “Now, after a year, I understand her a lot more. At first, I thought ‘sOh no, everyone is going to hate her’s. But as time went on you could see where it all comes from. I like how she is developing.”
Esther had to move from Melbourne to Sydney to work on Home and Away.
“I love change, and I love travel, but it did take me a little while to adjust. It was a big change.”
“But this is a dream come true. I am more settled now and I like this.”
