Ryan Kwanten (Vinnie Patterson) plays vampire Jason Stackhouse in US TV Series True Blood.

Once a Home And Away regular, Kwanten now lives in LA and was sought out by True Blood creator Alan Ball.

“He’sd seen a film of mine and saw characteristics of Jason Stackhouse in the character that I was playing,” Kwanten says. “Next thing you know, I was hired.”

Kwanten, 32, has the task of making the self-centred, ladykiller Jason not seem like a lost cause.

“I threw away the textbook on everything I thought I knew about acting and just flew by the seat of my pants because that’ss exactly how this guy operates,” he says. “It’ss really liberating to play a character like that because a lot of characters tend to be very brooding.”

Vampire fanatics should be aware that the True Blood vamps aren’st the sparkly kind you’sd find in Stephanie Meyer‘ss Twilight series. These are bigger, meaner, and a lot scarier!

Aussie fans can see Ryan Kwanten in True Blood on Showcase this Tuesday (February 10th) at 8.30pm.

UK fans can witness the vampire delights on Channel 4 later in the year.
