Former Home and Away Actor Charged With Rape
Former Home and Away actor Martin Lynes, who played guest character Adam Sharpe between 2012-2014, has been charged with the rape and assault of a woman at his Bateau Bay home.
The Daily Telegraph reports that 48 year old Lynes, who has also worked as an estate agent, was charged with nine offences including three counts of common assault, four of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count each of sexual and indecent assault. The alleged victim was taken to hospital and treated for concussion, bruising and bite marks.
Lynes did not enter a plea and was granted conditional bail, and later denied the accusations saying “I will be defending them“. An AVO has also been placed on Lynes prohibiting him from going within 100m of the woman’s home.
The actor became known for his role as Luke Forlano in the drama All Saints between 1998-2004, and also appeared in shows including Blue Water High and Packed to the Rafters.
The character of Adam Sharpe was introduced to Home and Away as an old friend of the Braxton family, but was secretly plotting their downfall. After various kidnappings and showdowns committed by both Adam and his son Jamie, Adam was hit by a car and left for dead by Brax and Heath. When his sister Ricky Sharpe arrived in the bay, it was revealed that Adam had in fact survived and was using Ricky as another attempt to gain revenge on Brax. After more kidnappings and attempted murders, Adam was arrested and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
Lynes will return to Wyong Local Court on 27th April.
