Kate back in Summer Bay High uniform
Kate Ritchie, Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold went back in time to 1996 last night during their Drive-time radio show on Nova 96.9.
Kate, who played Sally Fletcher on Home and Away for over 20 years, dressed up in a Summer Bay High uniform as the team turned the clock back to celebrate the release of Independence Day: Resurgence in cinemas.
Production of the show, including classic songs and games, was themed around the year the original movie came out—with giveaways including Tickle Me Elmo dolls, Game Boys and a George Foreman Grill.
Describing what she was wearing, Kate said:
“It’s tartan in fabric and it looks a bit like the Summer Bay high school uniform….”
Marty:
“Kate Ritchie is wearing her Summer Bay High School uniform because in 1996…”
Kate:
“I was merely a school girl working in Summer Bay Marty”
The team later discussed Sally’s liaison with Scott Irwin, played by a young Heath Ledger (though that actually aired in 1997)
Tim:
“You’re wearing the Summer Bay uniform… apparently you were schtooping Heath Ledger in 96”
Kate:
“Well I don’t think you say schtooping, I think it was a romantic rendezvous in the back of a panel van”
Marty:
“I didn’t even know you knew Heath Ledger”
Kate:
“Oh Marty it’s because you don’t listen and I don’t tend to share too many stories because then it would be ‘Oh I’d be dropping names again’”
