"Haven't you heard of a Pokapoo?!"

IT IS *NOT* ILLEGAL TO READ SUMMER BAY NEWS

The UK magazine "Aussie Soap Stars" recently printed the following article...

"Thinking about connecting to the many Home And Away and Neighbours' web sites? Think again - you could be committing a crime! Only one Summer Bay site is official and all Ramsay Street pages have been set up overseas without proper permission! This may be bad news for Rebecca Ritters (Ramsay Streets Hannah) and Ailsa Piper (Ruth) who helped put fans on line - it's thought Grundy TV may take legal action!"

I would just like you to know that it is NOT illegal to read Summer Bay News. Network Seven have been contacted over this matter and we have been assured that NO Home And Away sites are illegal. Network Seven give their logo and disclaimer to all Home And Away web sites as they are glad of the publicity.

EDITORIALS
Jez's Editorial - what a busy life!

Hello and yes, you're not imagining it, this is finally Summer Bay News issue 8!! Its been almost a month since the last installment, and what a month its been!! I finally finished my exams - hooray! So has Alan and so has Bex's sister. Well done everyone! Then there was that awful phonebill. I had spent so much connecting to the internet! I planned to leave the internet but luckily I am still here. So Summer Bay News almost met its fate - but thankfully not quite! Long live Summer Bay News! Now I'm in the middle of decorating my bedroom and things are very hectic! Rather hard to get to a computer thats covered with dust sheets! However, some good has come out of it. I have been receiving late replies to Summer Bay News from people I've never heard of before. So there are some names in this issue that have not been seen before. I've obviously been too quick in the past!

Will my babblings ever end? Well I haven't started on Home And Away yet! Isobel is dead!! Sob, boo-hoo :'-( Were we not supposed to notice that the new commune is made from bits of Shane and Angel's old house?! The doors were identical! Maybe Saul got some of his people to search the wreckage! OK, I know - I'm getting way too pinickity here! Is anyone else getting bored of the opening titles? It has got to the stage where they are made up of bits that have been added in at different times. First they separated Joey and Liam to cover the gap left buy Curtis. Then they stuck in that one of Travis doing nothing a couple of episodes later. I think its time to film a complete new set! The quote - this time its Irene trying to defend her made up word during a game of Scrabble! Send everything to...

Bex's Editorial - picking the plots to pieces!

Greetings Home & Away fans everywhere. Here in Britain we've had some rather good plots recently. Did you see Marilyn faced down in the water after the parachute jump? I find it hard to believe that anyone that is ecstatic would choose to lie motionless in the water and play dead. Still, it was all done to make Don worried so she could go gambling. And also to repair her hair. Pippa! You're okay! I'm sorry to go on about hair again, but not even a nurse over the past few weeks has bothered to give it a brush. While she was there she should have had her chin done too. Who can blame her for trying to suppress the memories of Sam?

Sally and Tim - that was one of the oddest scenes I have ever seen. He hones in on Sally over Chloe (huh?) and suddenly they are all over each other, it's LOVE! Sally, have you no standards? Who is this bloke? Tim was the person Travis saved on the stormy night, and it seems he wants to show his gratitude toSally. Oh Joey, you're so selfless! I can just about respect him now. The communelooks great - I don't blame him for moving back. If only Irene knew how much he is sacrificing for her (his sanity / brain) to find the location of Paul. Very admirable - but how can anyone dislike Saul! He lights up the screen, &in true NAZI fashion, he used great techniques to brainwash his son. Good foryou! What about Irene and Saul marrying? What a couple! Sadly, I forsee it will not happen.

And Kelly. What tosh! I don't care if the beach is apparently part of Travis. They were supposedly in love. Love is about sacrifice, so they say. So why separate if you're in love? Well, if Travis couldn't even leave the border of Summer Bay, maybe Kelly was right. Travis is physically confined to the Bay. Open an X-File! Lucky Rebecca! Isobel is dead.. in my household there was some confusion as to her state. Don- did you go to the funeral? NO! My sisters say Rebecca did. Such care for a wonderful headmaster. When Rebecca dies (and she probably will as all his others died) it will be interesting to see if he remembers to go to her funeral. Okay- see below for my spoilers!

POLL RESULTS

There were many varied responses for H&A's best death plot. Shane's sceptocemia won by one vote! Here are a selection of responses...

JEN TILL: best death most definently Shane's..I was crying through the whole thing!!!!! :}

ANDY BAKER: I'll choose Steph because I loved her! I still miss her. I have to watch the opening credits for Heartbreak High every Tuesday to see her dancing in the background. She MUST join soon....

JOANNE PEIRSON: Shane definitely had the cheesiest death, caused by a rare infection to a slight cut he received the week before. MMMMMM, I can believe that!! Closely followed by Stephanie's death, did she fall??? Was she pushed??? Who knows, but at least she didn't die a virgin.

ADRIAN MURPHY: By far it was Michael, the drama and tension of the flood was excellent.

NIC: Best Death scene - Tom when he had a heart attack and Rammed the tree, same as Mr Moss or who ever it was thought sally was his daughter. Shane -boring, Stephanie - No. Meg and Bobby - Too weepie. Baby Dale - Did we see him die? Laura - Class death. Dag Dog - poor animal must be dead by now, no one has fed it since 1993.

ALAN SHADE: Philip Matheson had the best death plot. The fire at the Surf Club was very well done and we finally saw that Dodge was pure evil! The aftermath of it was great too - when Dodge got drunk and revealed that he had started the fire to Steven.

KATRINA SAUNDERS: In reply to your opinion poll, I think the best death plot was Shane's, long and unsuspecting, when he died it is like hitting a brick wall! And it was very dramatic, him writhing there on the rock!

MEL: Going back years now, but Rory... was eaten by a shark! Yep..in the dazzling SummerBay waters they discovered Rory's surf board with the traditional chunk bitten out! Gosh it was lovely!

NEW POLL

This one was suggested by Hugh Newlands. Who do you think deserves Jesse? Should it be Selina or Chloe??

GENERAL E-MAILS

NIC: I think your other editor Bex shares the same views on H&A as I do, Who has seen Pippa, what did happen to Kye. Are Chris and Duncan still alive. Rebecca doesnt have any friends, I'm surprised she doesnt get accused of prying on school kids, she is always following Casey around, havent you noticed.

Im looking forward to the return of Saul. Im totally shocked no one nominated him for the most evil person.

Dont you think that Saul is great, The way he scares Selina is class. She annoys me, Ugly Moose, she still looks like a Panda on TV2 sometimes. Its a shame they have killed Saul off dont you think!

Did you notice how Isobelle never met Sam despite the fact she made such a fuss over Rebecca, She was her Grandaughter, Bobby was Sams (adoptive) mum so youd think Isobelle would have shown some interest in her Great Grandson especially as she was always over at Pippas to see Bert. Donald wasnt to keen to let Pippa have Sam at first, yet he never once offered to look after him while she was in Hospital. I think H&A have forgot that Sam and the Fishers do have some sort of family connection.

ALAN SHADE: I love the new logo - it does look like it is an official Home and Away one. I loved Bex's editorial - it was very funny! I agree with the bits about Pippa and Irene's baby - everyone seems to have forgotten that they exist!!!

KATRINA SAUNDERS: I haven't had the net for long, but your page is one of the best and most informative I have seen in ages!!!!!!

MICHELLE: I'm actually suprised that so many people overseas watch Home And Away. I mean at times it must be pretty hard to connect with. If I didn't live in Australia I very much doubt I would watch it.

And this one is from Bex...

"Happy Birthday to the Editor! He will be 16 on the 23rd!"

MOST / LEAST LIKELY!

I've finally accepted that top 10 lists are dead! If you still want to send one please do, but this is a much shorter thing I hope you will enjoy, to replace the lists...

I actually got the idea from "Inside Soap" magazine. What you have to do is come up with a quote that a character is most likely and least likely to say! I'll start the ball rolling with good old Isobel...

MOST LIKELY TO SAY: Come on Marilyn dear, let's leave grumpy old Donald here to wallow while we go and have some good old fun in Yabbie Creek!

LEAST LIKELY TO SAY: Oh, Donald, this illness is getting to me. Could you please give me a hand to get up these stairs. There's a good boy!

Please send your quotes to the usual address.

BEX'S SPOILERS
Sorry everyone in Australia who has allready seen this stuff!!

TIEGAN: Tiegan is being very good and settling in again. She is back at school (a year behind), and even smiles at Fisher! How long can she just be Joey's friend though? Sam is still giving her a hard time

AARON: Aaron tells Casey that he hid the stolen record (Scott stole it from Fisher's room and planted it in Sally's locker to get her in trouble). Aaron also appears to be falling for Casey.

REBECCA: Rebecca thinks she is going to lose her job.

RACHEL: Rachel was getting too noisy for Lachlan so Jesse gave her to Selina for the night, but now Travis and Lachlan have realised how much they miss her. Rachel fell into a crocodile cage at a zoo. Jesse jumped into the cage to save her and then jumped out in a flash. He had all the press come after him and it was on the news. He lied to Alf so he could take Rachel to the park, so when Alf found out he was mad, for some reason. Apparently the bait shop partnership is over.

CASEY: Casey is desperate to get back into Joey's good books but all she does is stuff it up and make it worse. She is jealous of Joey and Tiegan.

IRENE: Apparently, the priest who is helping to get Irene's baby back, is now the object of Irene's desires too. Is that legal?

TRIVIA ANSWER

The answer to last issue's trivia; Sam's Dad was Greg Marshall. He married Bobby in episode 1022. He cheated on Bobby with Fiona but made up with her two episodes before her death in 1298.
