Scriptwriting Competition 2008

The second 'Back to the Bay' Script writing competition has now come to a successful conclusion. The writers have written and rewritten their scenes, torn up lots of paper, sweated, edited, and looked to the heavens for inspiration; in their turn the judges have deliberated, argued, deliberated some more, and reached their conclusions. There were some interesting takes on why Sally might be leaving, some emotional, some dramatic. Our members have a lot of imagination.

This year's task was very different from last year's and we had hoped that it would attract a lot more entries. We had around the same number as last year all round, but were encouraged by an increase in the number of under 16's who entered. Similarly to last year the judges have read and commented upon all the scripts, and have done so anonymously, they had no idea who wrote what script as each entry was given a number. We will be forwarding some feedback to all of the people who have entered in the next week or so.

The judges were again headed up by the inimitable Dramaqueen, Coral Drouyn, AWGIE winner and former Script Producer on Home and Away. This year she was joined by forum member and last years winning writer Eduardo Bearo, together with John003au, and Dean who were part of last years judging panel.

The BTTB staff would like to thank all of them personally for giving up their time to judge this competition. It is greatly appreciated, and they have put up with an awful lot of nagging from Frankie, whose nickname of 'Miss Whiplash' from last year has been carried over to the wider forum (thank you so much John :p )

We would particularly like to thank Coral who we know is very busy writing for about three shows, and also moving house. As last year she has also graciously agreed to formally announce the winners....just like they do at the Oscars, the LOGIES and the AWGIES!
